Faqs
What is PMHT?
Perimenopause & Menopause Hormone Therapy (PMHT) is a comprehensive care program designed to support women through the hormonal changes that occur during perimenopause and menopause. The program includes assessment, blood work, personalized treatment planning, hormone therapy when appropriate, and ongoing follow-up care.
What is the difference between perimenopause and menopause?
Perimenopause is the transitional stage leading up to menopause, when hormone levels begin to fluctuate and symptoms may appear. Menopause is officially reached after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. Women can experience symptoms during both stages, often for several years.
What symptoms can PMHT help with?
PMHT may help manage symptoms associated with hormonal changes, including hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, mood changes, brain fog, fatigue, vaginal dryness, reduced libido, irregular periods, and other concerns related to perimenopause and menopause.
How do I know if I am in perimenopause or menopause?
Many women begin experiencing symptoms before menopause occurs. During your initial assessment, Nurse Practitioner Emma Knapp will review your symptoms, medical history, and blood work to help determine where you are in the menopause transition and what treatment options may be appropriate.
What is included in the PMHT program?
The 12-month program includes a $50Â initial assessment which includes a comprehensive intake and blood work. The program begins with an intake appointment to finalize your personalized treatment plan, and follow-up visits at 3, 9, and 12 months. Your care plan is monitored and adjusted as needed throughout the year to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Who will oversee my care?
Your care will be provided by Nurse Practitioner Emma Knapp, who specializes in menopause and perimenopause care. Emma follows evidence-based recommendations from leading Canadian and international menopause organizations and is committed to providing personalized, patient-centred care.
How much does the program cost?
There is an initial $50 intake fee for blood work and results intepretation. The initial appointment is $395, the second appointment at 3-mths is $350, the third appointment at 9-mths is $350 and the 12-mth appointment is $395 or you can package the first year of the PMHT program for $1,400. Annual reviews after the first year are $495.
Is the program covered by MSP?
MSP will cover lab work and Pharmacare may support most of the prescriptions.
