PRP Hair Restoration Therapy
A PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment starts with drawing a patient’s own blood and processing it so only the enriched cells remain. The enriched cells, called platelet-rich plasma or PRP, contain growth factors that are injected into the scalp and help increase hair density and hair thickness.
The efficacy of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections has been demonstrated in multiple studies and represents a promising new tool in the treatment of alopecia. PRP contains red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets (or thrombocytes) that contribute to essential growth functions and healing processes. When these platelets are isolated and injected into a treatment area, they stimulate your body’s reparative cell production. To prepare a PRP injection, blood is extracted and run through a centrifuge in order to create a concentration of platelets, which are then injected directly into the scalp. PRP Hair Restoration Therapy typically begins to work after one or two treatments. Up to four injections may be given in a six-month period.
